Have you vested the Cary Downtown Farmers Market yet this year? The market runs through November, but this is the best time to pick up freshly grown produce to cook up your favorite dishes back in your Bradford apartment or town home. The fall harvest brings piles of beautiful produce to the market, just waiting for you to purchase and bring home.
Where and When
You have two opportunities to visit the Cary Downtown Farmers Market. On Tuesdays from 2 until 6 and on Saturdays from 8 until 12:30, local farmers and other craftsmen will have their food and artwork available to purchase.
The market is organized by the Town of Cary and is hosted on the lawn of the Ivey Ellington-Waddell House at 135 West Chatham Street. This is just four miles from your Bradford apartment along High House Road, making the market a convenient place to shop for locally-grown produce.
What You Will Find There
First and foremost, the Cary Downtown Farmers Market is a place to purchase high quality produce direct from the grower. You’ll also find farmers selling meats and dairy products from their farms, and fresh farm eggs are a common sight. Yet local food is just the first thing you will find.
As a gathering place for the community, the Farmers Market also draws artisans and even horticulturists that have their own goods to sell. Here you can pick up everything from handmade jewelry and wall art to handmade soaps and even a potted plant for your patio.
Making Local Connections
A side benefit of visiting the Cary Downtown Farmers Market is the opportunity to make local connections. From the farmers and artisans selling their goods to the people who are shopping alongside you, you’ll find that smiles abound and opportunities to connect with the community are abundant. You will leave with bags full of goods and several new contacts and friends.
As you visit week after week, you’ll start to remember these faces. You will know which booth has the best tomatoes and which booth is the choice for organic greens. The farmers and sellers will also get to know you and what you are looking to buy, and these relationships will help you get the freshest selection each time you return to the market.
If you haven’t checked out the Cary Downtown Farmers Market, you owe it to yourself to see what it has to offer. Make plans to visit this weekend, and stock up on your produce for the week while you are there.

Bradford residents: June is here, and it’s the perfect time for a road trip! Lucky for you there are several great options for day trips from Cary as well as a few other useful road trip ideas:
Location, location, location: If you’re looking to leave Cary for the weekend, try hitting up New Bern, Beaufort, or Hillsborough, NC. All three charming North Carolina cities provide an escape with great food, quaint shops, galleries, and lots of history. You can be transported in just a few hours and take in the waterfronts, historic homes, and much more. Come back rested and refreshed and make all your friends jealous when you show off your fantastic vacation pictures and unique purchases from the local shops.
All about the journey (and the destination): Lauren of La Petite Fashionista has a great list of road trip questions to help end of the awkward car silences. Enjoy the list, or the conversations that come from how much you hate the list or what should have been included. You’re welcome.
Food, glorious, food: The best part about a road trip is the food. This weekend we’re celebrating Strawberry Shortcake Day, and National Lobster Day. We challenge you to take full advantage of each of these national holidays while you’re out exploring. Hit up three local establishments and compare the strawberry shortcake. Visiting a town on the coast? Make sure they’re serving up lobster and treat yourself. Why not? It’s the summertime, you’re on a road trip, and those Instagrams and tweets aren’t going to write themselves.
Hopefully, you can get out and explore all that North Carolina has to offer just hours away from Bradford Apartments & Townhomes. However, if a road trip doesn’t fit your hectic schedule, you can always make the quick trip to nearby Raleigh! Just 17 minutes away, it’s the perfect place to spend a summer night.
