Now that we’ve defrosted from Winter Storm Jonas, we want to make sure you’re prepared any future cold weather. While we can all appreciate a snow day, we know that winters in Cary and the Triangle can bring freezing rain, ice, and power outages. At Bradford, we want to make sure our residents have all the information they need so they are not caught off guard if another winter storm hits our area.
- Make a Family/Friends Communications Plan: You may not be with your family or roommates when a storm hits, so make a plan now. Discuss how you will contact one another, how you will get back together, and what you will do in case of emergency. Another important topic is how you will communicate if cell phones or internet is not working.
- Keep An Emergency Kit In Your Car That Includes The Following Items: windshield scraper and small brush, flashlight, battery powered radio, water, booster cables, extra batteries, blankets, flares, first aid kit, fluorescent distress flag
- Have an Emergency Kit At Home: When you know a winter storm is coming, you can prepare an emergency kit for your apartment with a few items. These can include the following items: cell phone chargers, manual can openers, bottled water, wrench or pliers, moist towelettes, garbage bags, whistle, flashlight and extra batteries, battery powered radio and extra batteries, at least a three day supply of non perishable food,
- Special Needs: Make sure you have four days to a week’s supply of all medications on hand as a winter storm approaches. Also, stock up on any pet medications and pet supplies
The staff at Bradford will do all we can to make sure you stay updated on the latest winter weather information for Cary and the surrounding areas. These are just a few tips to help you stay safe and organized for the future. As always, your staff at Bradford is here for you!
